About

Zany Yare is a circus located in the lower Blue Mountains who caters for primary, high school and adult students in the Western Sydney and Blue Mountains area. We provide classes for students to learn various circus skills — tissu, acro, juggling and many more.

Zany Yare was founded in 2000 and has been performing in the Blue Mountains & Sydney regions ever since. They have put on 11 major productions, including circus interpretations of the, Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Charley and the Chocolate Factory, Peter Pan, and their most recent production Hypothesis that explored what the word “experiment” meant to the performers. They have participated in a variety of festivals such as Ironfest, Lithgow’s Halloween Festival, Tullamour Irish Festival, Glenbrook Spring Fair, Cirquinox, Winter Magic, various Australia Day celebrations and performed at the 2007 and 2014 Catapult Youth Circus Festival in Bathurst. Zany Yare was also Blaxland High School’s Resident Theatre Company from 2006-2008 and was awarded a CDSE grant through the Blue Mountains City Council and Glenbrook Panthers Club.

Zany Yare runs classes every week at The Springwood Boys and Girls Club, where students learn a variety of skills. These skills include, aerial acrobatics, juggling, stilt walking, acrobatics, unicycle, hula hoop, a range of other prop manipulation skills, physical theatre and puppetry. Zany Yare creates a fun and safe environment where students can improve on fitness, coordination and confidence. Members of Zany Yare are encouraged to develop their own circus acts, costumes and characters, giving them a creative outlet as well as developing their physical skills. It has never been easier for Blue Mountains kids and adults to go beyond the ordinary and run away with the circus!
